Mark Jones has enjoyed his first win as Newcastle Jets boss following his side’s impressive 4-0 victory over Brisbane Roar at McDonald Jones Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Jets dominated for large periods and took an early advantage via an own goal after some impressive play from winger Andrew Nabbout.
Newcastle hammered home their advantage after the break with quick-fire goals to skipper Nigel Boogaard and Steven Ugarkovic putting the result beyond doubt.
Former Roar midfielder Devante Clut found the net in the final five minutes to cap a resounding win for the Jets, their biggest ever over the Roar.

1-0 Newcastle: Jack Hingert (OG) 8’
Jets winger Andrew Nabbout pounced on a Roar turnover and showed great pace to beat two defenders before firing in a low cross which Hingert inadvertently turned into his own net.
-0 Newcastle: Nigel Boogaard 62’
An over-hit corner from Andrew Hoole found its way to Ben Kantarovski who dinked the ball back into the box with an unmarked Boogaard on hand to bury a convincing header.
3-0 Newcastle: Steven Ugarkovic 71’
A poor clearance from the Roar inside their own box saw the ball fall to Ugarkovic with the midfielder taking a touch before smashing a left foot drive into the bottom corner.
4-0 Newcastle: Devante Clut 86’
Roar captain Jade North midjudged a long-ball with Andrew Nabbout pouncing on the loose ball before squaring to Clut who tapped home into an empty net.
