ON the eve of the Jets’ biggest game of the A-League season, one Newcastle fan has tasted success after scooping the 442 EA SPORTS’ Ultimate Premier League Weekend competition.
Tim Askew was the lucky winner of the trip for two for an Ultimate Premier League Weekend seeing games live in the Premiership.
EA SPORTS, the official sports technology partner of the Barclays Premier League, joined forces with FourFourTwo to offer the prize in celebration of the FIFA Ultimate team.
Tim was shocked when he received the news. In fact, he almost didn’t reply to the email, as he explained.
“Being a massive fan of the one true football, a huge fan of our local team the Newcastle Jets, a very passionate - yet very ordinary - player until I ‘retired’ at 22 and an avid gamer with FIFA 13, this is a dream," he told au.fourfourtwo.com.
“My wife is a recent convert to the game. Coming along to all the Newcastle Jets home games and cheering along. She has even suggested we go to Brazil 2014.
“My wife Christina and I are very excited to be going on this trip. The funniest thing was that when we received the email saying we had won, I nearly deleted it.
“I seem to win something every day, whether it’s a UK lottery or a Russian bride and neither of those prizes have ever arrived.
“So it was with great surprise that I find out this was real and we are really going – mind blowing,” the startled reader told au.fourfourtwo.com.
Tim’s long-held wish was to see a Premier League game but has never been able to make it to England during the winter season.
“Thank you again Four Four Two and EA SPORTS. This will be amazing.”
Look out for Tim’s story in a future issue of FourFourTwo magazine (http://au.fourfourtwo.com/magazine-currentissue.aspx).
