The Newcastle Jets and A-League are resigned to losing star Nicky Carle.
Carle has already jetted out of the country to agree terms with Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
The A-League Player of the Year is keen to become a regular in the Socceroos squad and believes that a move overseas will maximise his chances in achieving that. The Newcastle side were also unable to match the salary and bonus structure on offer but will sell Carle for approximately $600,000.
Jets CEO George Liolio said today: "We considered Nicky our franchise player - to use an American term - someone we'd have long-term and just at the right age, with a great image.
"But unfortunately he wanted to go and you can't stand in a player's way and you have to do some good business out of it all."
