Newcastle Jets have signed former Everton youth product Jake Adelson on a two-season contract.
Adelson, 21, is a versatile right-sided player who will add depth to the Club’s first team roster in defence and attack.
The former Central Coast Mariners man, who has featured for the Australian U20 side in the past, has spent the past month on trial with the Jets.
He played for the Jets in a behind closed doors training match against the Mariners on Wednesday and also demonstrated his ability in local friendlies against Weston FC and Broadmeadow FC over the past fortnight.
Newcastle Jets coach Ernie Merrick said he’s been impressed with Adelson throughout his trial period with the Club.
“Jake is technically very good and has terrific speed,” Merrick said.
“He plays a very attacking fullback type role which is what we need at the Jets.
“He has to learn the structure of our defence over the pre-season, and I am sure he will become a core member of the squad."
