Jeffers, who scored his first goal for the Jets in the midweek 2-0 win over Melbourne Heart, has helped Newcastle to four wins and two draws in his six appearances for the club.

The former Arsenal forward's guest stint at EnergyAustralia Stadium expires on January 3 but Culina told the Newcastle Herald he would like to extend his stay.

"He's been very good for us and that's the kind of player you want," he said. "Can we fit him in? That's another question.

"But we will explore that and sit down with Francis and see what his plans for the future are as well."

Culina added: "As far as Francis is concerned, I like what I'm seeing.

"He's contributing well and it would be really nice to see what he's capable of when he's fresh and had games under his belt, but not in such rapid succession, so he can give his body time to recover and get himself a little bit fitter."
