Paul Jewell launched a scathing attack on his Ipswich players after claiming their performance in tonight's 4-0 loss at Burnley was akin to that of a pub team.
Town slumped to a sixth consecutive defeat as on-loan Wolves striker Sam Vokes scored his first goal for the Clarets and Jay Rodriguez claimed his 11th of the season either side of a brace for midfielder Chris McCann.
The margin of victory might have been even greater, while home goalkeeper Lee Grant watched on from the other end with minimal involvement as Town turned in a collectively toothless display.
A side boasting a wealth Premier League experience, including Lee Bowyer, Jimmy Bullard and Michael Chopra, now lie outside the npower Championship relegation zone on goal difference alone.
"I feel physically sick," said Jewell.
"There's a lot of people with big reputations in that changing room. People keep on telling us what an experienced team and what good players we've got.
"They can all talk the talk but at the minute they're not doing it.
"It's unbelievable from a team that not so long ago was looking like a decent team
"Now it looks as if we can't win a 50-50 tackle, or even 60-40 in our favour.
"There's a goal where the kid runs from midfield right through the heart of our defence, there's a goal from a set play - anyone watching that would think it's like a pub team really."
He added: "It's unacceptable. I'm embarrassed here coming to see you guys. I'm embarrassed walking past those supporters of ours who've travelled all that way to watch absolute garbage.
"Ultimately it's my responsibility and some of the stuff that is going on in there is not what we've been preaching. In fact, none of it is."
By contrast, Burnley boss Eddie Howe was left to bask in the glory of back-to-back wins and a dominant showing on his 34th birthday that moves his side four points clear of the relegation zone and only five shy of the play-off places.
"The second half was enjoyable," he said. "I don't think I've had many second halves here at Turf Moor in my short reign that have been as enjoyable as that. I thought we were excellent.
"It was a strange game in the fact that we created so many chances. I think we could have probably scored double the four that we did.
"Jay Rodriguez had chance after chance and to be fair to him he kept going and got the reward for an excellent individual performance.
"But what pleases me more is the team effort. We were really good in the second half."
A by-product of a fine team performance was Burnley's first clean sheet in 10 games.
"It wasn't just the clean sheet for me - it was the manner of it," Howe added. "We kept a good side, although they are on a bad run they've got a lot of quality in their team, very quiet.
"I don't think Granty really had a save to make so that that pleases me."
