Curbishley has appointed his old Charlton colleagues Nick Davies as West Ham's new head of sports science, George Cooper as head of physiotherapy and Dave Singleton as reserve team physio.

The trio join masseur Darren Page and kit manager Steve Rigby who have already moved from Charlton to Upton Park.

Meanwhile, heading in the opposite direction to join former West Ham boss Alan Pardew at The Valley are physio Steve Allen and sports scientist Niall Clark.

Curbishley said: "Obviously there is an irony in the fact that some of our new staff members have joined us from Charlton while others have headed in the opposite direction but, from my point of view, the only criteria our new additions have been selected on is their ability to do the job and I am certain they will all prove their worth very quickly.

"Our aim is to beef up all departments behind the scenes at the club, and this may not be the end of the changes that we make."

Curbishley has also recruited Glyn Snodin as first-team coach with Kevin Keen returning to his previous role in charge of the reserves.

Assistant manager Keith Peacock and reserve team coach Steve Brown have both left the club this summer.
