A Joel Griffiths spot-kick was not enough to give Newcastle Jets victory over an NBN Select XI at Macquarie Field last night.

Gary Van Egmond saw his side held to a 1-1 draw in windy conditions.
Two English trialists, Adam Dickinson and Chris Sergeant, were handed starting slots in a 4-4-2 formation with the duo replaced at half-time by Stuart Musialik and Adam Dapuzzo respectively.
Griffiths’ 55th minute penalty put the Jets ahead but the celebrations were short-lived as NBN Select levelled matters 10 minutes later through Ricki Metcalfe.
Next up for the Jets is Saturday’s clash with NSW Premier League Club Bankstown City Lions (2pm). The match takes place at Wanderers Oval, Broadmeadow. The gates will open at 11am.
