Fab DiLizia, Kamal Ibraham, and a second half strike from Marc Warren ensured that Australia ended the six-nation tournament on a high note.

The Qantas Joeys had earlier suffered 3-0 defeats against both the USA and host-nation Japan in their group matches.

The match overnight was the fourth in six days for the Australians including a training match against a Combined High Schools team which Australia won 4-3 on penalties after drawing 0-0.

Japan won the tournament defeating the United Arab Emirates 4-0 in the final.

The matches are the first under coach Martyn Crook as he prepares the team for their 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Australia will travel to Singapore in October for the first stage of qualifying with two of six teams to progress to next year’s AFC U-16 Championship.

The Qantas Joeys squad is:
