The Joeys, who went down 4-3 in their opening game of the four-nation tournament against Portugal, were beaten from start to finish by an English side who played high tempo, pressure football.

England were two ahead by the break after goals from Mathias Fanimo and Courtney Meppen Walters.

In the second half, Raheem Sterling's brilliant run culminated with him making it 3-0, before Nick Powell rounded out the scoring in stoppage-time with a free-kick beating Joeys keeper Lachlan Tibbles.

Anthony Proia, who scored twice against Portugal, had the Joeys' best chance to find the back of the net when he headed narrowly wide from close range on 67 minutes.

Joeys coach Jan Versleijen said after the game: "The level of this game was too high for us and it was evident that these (England) players play at a higher level week in, week out.

"This was the first time our players have faced a team as good as this in a match situation and it was evident that we were playing a very high quality opponent.

"The players will learn a great deal from playing a match like this."

Australia, bottom of the group, will face Turkey in their final game.
