The Reds have an ever growing injury list to contend with and had to release striker Sergio van Dijk to Indonesian club Persib Bandung last week as they attempt to stay in the running for the Premiers Plate this season.

Their task was made tougher when they dropped points on their travels against Melbourne Heart on Friday night, but Kosmina is undecided on whether bringing in fresh talent will reignite his squad.

"It is always hard to bring someone in, especially if you are looking at a foreigner," Kosmina said after Adelaide's 2-0 loss.

"If you want to bring someone in now you are probably inviting trouble. You are better off with a local."

Adelaide took on Heart without a host of key players, as Bruce Djite, Fabio Ferreira and Marcelo Carrusca remained sidelined with groin concerns.

But Kosmina remains optimistic and is hopeful he will have a full squad to choose from in the near future.

"We will make do with what we have got for now," he said. "We have got Bruce coming back in a week and we have got Marcelo coming back in a week or two and we have got Ferreira starting training again on Monday.

"In three weeks we should be fairly healthy again."

Dario Vidosic also picked up a knock against the Heart, but Kosmina is confident that it won't be enough to keep the star midfielder from missing the club's clash with league leaders Central Coast next round.

"He has got a knock on the hip," Kosmina said."The first one in the first half he could have survived, but the second one didn't do him any favours.

"You have got to rely on a squad over a course of a season and not just one or two players. Having said that, Dario does create a bit of a hole because he can be really creative."
