El Hamdaoui will join from AZ Alkmaar in a deal expected to be officially announced by the club later today, while Mido will return to Amsterdam seven years after leaving the club in acrimonious circumstances.

Jol told AD Sportwereld both deals are in place.

"Mounir is what we needed," Jol said. "I worked with him at Tottenham. He is able to make this Ajax team better."

Jol also worked with Mido in north London, and is confident he can get the best out of the Egyptian, who was with Ajax as a youngster before running into disciplinary problems and being farmed out.

"He's a great guy to have here," Jol said of Mido. "We had no options up front, but now we have two."
