The Cottagers have collected just two wins from their past nine league matches and sit just seven points above the relegation zone.

And the Dutchman has demanded focus from his charges, as they look to avoid being dragged into the mire by the improving teams below them.

"First you need 36, 37 points. After that about 40 points, it's always the same," he said.

"But if you've got to wait for that until the last game of the season, you'll probably end up in hospital just before that, which is not what you want!"

Jol went on to point out that the loan signings of Stanislav Manolev, Emmanuel Frimpong, Eyong Enoh and Urby Emanuelson could help to provide the necessary depth to achieve their aims.

"We needed this window but it wasn't easy because we didn't have a lot of money. However I still wanted to strengthen the squad," he added.

"Normally I hate the transfer window but this time it was a good one for us because we could do a lot.

"Last time we were robbed of our best players a day before the window finished when Mousa Dembele and Clint Dempsey left."
