MARTIN Jol praised Darren Bent's contribution to Fulham's 1-0 win over Stoke City on Saturday, and predicted a good season for the striker.
Bent arrived at Craven Cottage during the transfer window from Aston Villa and has scored twice in five appearances.
He replaced Dimitar Berbatov after 66 minutes of their clash with Stoke on Saturday and was on hand with seven minutes to play to score the only goal of the game.
Jol was happy with the 29-year-old's impact and is confident he will be able to get the best out of the England striker.
"Players always have a good season if they are with me and Bent will have a good season," Jol said.
"If you don't start him he might fall back into a (negative) mood but I spoke to him yesterday and he knows what my intentions are.
"He knows we want to build up scenarios for games like today and against Everton,
"Sometimes he can't start but my intentions are to use Bent and get the best out of him."
Bent's late strike lifted Fulham out of the bottom three in the Premier League and eased the pressure on Jol after a shaky start to the season.
