FULHAM boss Martin Jol has insisted Socceroo Mark Schwarzer will be the club's number one goalkeeper when he returns from injury despite David Stockdale's good form in his absence.
Stockdale has enjoyed a good run of form for the Cottagers during Schwarzer's injury-enforced absence, due to a spinal injury.
The 39-year-old Australian shot-stopper is still several weeks away from a return, after sustaining the injury in a 2-0 loss to Swansea City in the Premier League last month.
The good form of Stockdale, who was recalled from a loan spell at Ipswich following Schwarzer's injury, has led to suggestions he could remain Fulham's number one when the Australian's returns to fitness, but Jol insisted that wouldn't be the case.
"Now we play with David, but Mark Schwarzer will come back in the next three or four weeks," Jol told reporters after Saturday's 4-0 FA Cup win over Charlton.
"I can certainly tell you Stockdale makes saves that are unbelievable, but I can remember the Liverpool game when we were 1-0 up and there was a certain goal that Mark Schwarzer saved, so we’ve got two very good good goalkeepers."
Jol went on to claim that Schwarzer was one of the best keepers in Europe and had his full faith.
"With Mark Schwarzer, there was never any doubt in my mind, and in anybody’s mind, that he’s one of the best keepers in England, maybe in Europe. I’ve had a lot of good goalkeepers and he stands out," Jol said.
"It’s good to know that I’ve got another goalkeeper who’s got more and more experience. That is why we put him on loan at Ipswich. He did well there, so it’s only good for his experience that he came in and did well, like last year, but Mark Schwarzer is Mark Schwarzer."
Schwarzer, who made over 440 appearances for Middlesbrough and is closing in on his 150th for Fulham, had made 28 appearances in all competitions in the 2011-12 season before the injury.
