New Ajax manager Martin Jol has set his sights on luring Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart back to Amsterdam.
Van der Vaart has struggled to become a first-team regular at the Bernabeu since moving there from Ajax last summer for 13 million euros.
"I have a lot of contact with Van der Vaart," Jol told German newspaper Bild.
"I respect him a lot and I know that he is in a difficult situation at Real Madrid.
"If more becomes clear about his position, he might join us."
