The Dutch Champions were drawn in an incredibly difficult group, up against Manchester City and Napoli - two of the strongest teams in Europe - and UCL regulars Shakhtar Donetsk.

Feyenoord went down to City 4-0 and then 3-1 to Napoli, and were beaten 2-1 at home by Shakhtar on Tuesday night.

However, things had started brightly for Feyenoord, taking the lead in just the seventh minute through Steven Berghuis.

But Brazilian attacker Bernard scored once in each half to seal a 2-1 win, with Shakhtar holding on despite playing with 10 men for the last 15 minutes.

City lead the group on nine points, with Shakhtar second on six and Napoli third on three, with Feyenoord bottom with zero.

The top two advance to the Round of 16, while the third-placed side go into the Europa League Round of 32.
