AUSSIE goalkeeper Brad Jones is determined to prove he's the man to replace Mark Schwarzer as his team head for Liverpool this weekend.
Jones was given the nod ahead of Ross Turnbull for Boro's opening Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur last week with Gareth Southgate's team enjoying a 2-1 victory.
A trip to Anfield beckons with Jones hoping to build on an impressive start between the sticks.
He told Middlesbrough's official website: "I've been here a long time fighting with Mark Schwarzer to earn the right to play and him leaving meant it was down to me and Ross.
"The coaches have said that we've both done well and they're happy with both of us. Obviously it was going to be difficult for whoever wasn't going to play.
"I'm glad I played and hopefully I can have a run now. Hopefully if I get a run I can prove to the fans that I'm deserving of a place. I know it's obviously difficult for them to see someone who hasn't played come into the side.
"The only way I can show them is being out there and playing. You always want your fans to have faith in you and the only way they'll do that is by me performing well."
