Kim Jong-hun's North Korea face a seemingly uphill task of reaching the second round after being drawn in Group G alongside Brazil, Ivory Coast and Portugal and have a daunting opener against the five-time winners on June 15 in Johannesburg.

"We don't want to leave the tournament just with experience; we want to obtain all we can get in terms of goals and points when we go home," Jong told Press Association Sport.

On their only other World Cup finals appearance in 1966 in England, the Chollima reached the quarter-finals after famously beating Italy before losing to a Eusebio-inspired Portugal in the last eight.

"I am very much looking forward to the competition," added 26-year-old Japan-based striker Jong.

Kawasaki Frontale frontman Jong scored twice as North Korea came from behind to share a 2-2 draw with fellow World Cup finalists Greece last week and along with captain and Russia-based striker Hong Yong-jo will provide a key attacking weapon for the defence-minded side.
