COACH Adnan Hamed admits Jordan's surprise showing at the Asian Cup had increased the expectation on his players ahead of their Group B clash with Syria.
Jordan followed up a creditable opening draw against Japan with a shock victory over Saudi Arabia, meaning they only need a point against Syria to reach the last eight.
"We have two chances (to qualify), which is better than one, but our team is very concentrated both mentally and physically," he said.
"The pressure has increased over the last few days after the good results. The type of pressure is different.
"I have confidence in the players and we will try to qualify for the next stage. We have prepared for the whole tournament, not just one game. Four points from two games is very good and we have gained good success.
"I am very optimistic about the game. I'm sure our players will do their best. The difficulty lies in the fact that we are facing a strong team in Syria so calculations are not easy."
Skipper Hatem Aqel is out with a knee problem that threatens the defender's participation in the rest of the tournament, while Anas Bani-Yaseen is also struggling with injury.
Syria boss Tita Valeriu also has doubts over the fitness of two key players.
Defender Abulkader Deka has a broken nose but is expected to play, while star striker Firas Al Khatib will face a late fitness test.
Nadim Sagab is suspended after the defender was sent off in the 2-1 defeat to Japan.
"It's true that he Sagab a good player but I believe I can find a solution to replace him as we have depth in our squad," said Valeriu, whose side need all three points to progress.
"We played well against Saudi Arabia and were not too bad against Japan so we are very much looking forward to the game and we will try to do our best.
"Jordan are strong, they can attack down the middle or either flank so we have prepared ourselves very well."
