Socceroo striker Tomi Juric has confirmed he will remain with Swiss club FC Luzern next season after his contract was extended.
Juric, who joined the Swiss Super League outfit in July 2016 from Roda JC, was set to become a free agent at the end of this season and had been linked with other European clubs.
But a clause in the 26-year-old’s contract has been activated earlier this month, tying him to Luzern for the 2018-19 campaign.
Juric has bagged eight goals and five assists in 26 appearances for Die Leuchten this season, but wants his performances to improve.
“The club has been doing well, grinding out some results, we haven't lost since winter break so the club has been happy in regards to that,” he said.
“Me personally, I have grabbed a goal and two assists to my name since the winter break. That is not where I would like to be. But there have been certain reasons.
"Hopefully when I go back a few things will change around the club and in the team.”
Head coach Markus Babbel walked out on Luzern in January after publicly criticising the club, stating that he did not want his contract renewed.
Former defender Gerardo Seaone was handed the reins after Babbel’s exit and has led them on a a seven-game unbeaten run.

Juric is happy at Luzern where he is regular starter every week.
“The club sat down and had a word with me, my contract’s been extended again so I can tell that I’m playing an important role for the club and hopefully it continues until the end of the season,” he said.
“I’m positive it will. It’s a bit like Germany - quite direct, pretty physical as well. I wouldn’t say there’s too much of a possession style in the league but it’s definitely, not one of the top five leagues, but close around the 10 to 15 mark.
“There’s a lot of good players in there, underrated to be honest. Some players with immense quality and a lot of players that shouldn’t be there, they should be somewhere better. It’s a matter of the scouting system as well and it’s in a good position for other clubs to come and have a look at you.
"The standard is quite high.”
The former Western Sydney and Roda JC Kerkrade striker may be content in Switzerland for now, but he still harbours ambitions of one day playing in the Bundesliga, the English Premier League or La Liga.
“Definitely, that hasn’t changed and somewhere in one of the top leagues in Europe would be fantastic,” he said.
“I’ve just got to wait and see how things pan out.”
