Juric, 26, has battled a patella problem in the lead-up to the World Cup, missing club side Luzern's final month of action.

The 34-time Socceroo's niggle was so bad that coach Bert van Marwijk re-drafted striker Jamie Maclaren into the squad, eventually earning final selection.

Juric returned to training last week but missed Friday's 4-0 win over Czechia.

He is now in contention to play some part in Sunday morning's (AEST) friendly against Hungary in Budapest, but is gearing up for Australia's World Cup opener against France.

“I’ve been training fully for a week," Juric said. "I’m sweet and ready to go.

“It’s not bad, it’s just annoying. It’s nothing otherwise I wouldn’t be here. It’s a maintenance thing I have to stay on top of."

He added: "It's not the way I wanted to come into camp and start off these preparations but sometimes you have to play with the cards that you're dealt.

"I've made the most of it now. I'm preparing for it as best as possible to get ready for the first game (against France)."

Juric has had to balance van Marwijk's taxing training camp with his own knee issues, without pushing the injury too hard.

"Obviously a lot longer sessions than we're used to coming into camp but then again there's a big tournament at stake," he said.

"It's understandable for us to be training so long and getting in these hours during training."

He added: “These weeks have been really, really important. We all know that we have Bert  and he is new to this organisation and it’s been really crucial for him that he gets to know us as players and people.”

Juric has netted eight goals for Australia in his 34 appearances and said scoring at the World Cup would be something special.

"It'd be one of the best out of all of them, scoring at that stage and at a tournament of this magnitude," he said.

"One of the most important things is we do well as a team and we perform. The goal is to get out of the group stage and play some good football."
