Socceroos striker Tomi Juric will miss four to six weeks after sustaining medial ligament damage to his right knee.
Juric had to be replaced after only eight minutes in Luzern's 2-2 draw with Young Boys in the Swiss Super League on Sunday.
The Australian was ruled out of the Socceroos squad to face Thailand on Tuesday morning due to the injury.
Juric underwent an MRI scan on his right knee on Monday, which showed the problem.
Luzern confirmed there is no further damage and Juric won't need surgery.

In the short term, the injury leaves Australia light on for attacking options against Thailand, with Apostolos Giannou brought into the squad.
Juric will likely be out of action until February, with Luzern heading into the Swiss Super League Christmas break after their 11 December match with Sion.
Luzern don't return to action until 4 February 2017 against Lausanne.
Juric has scored four goals in 16 appearances in all competitions for Luzern.
