Tomi Juric says the Socceroos are enjoying their camp in Kazan and had a much needed rest day on Saturday.
Australia need to win to stay alive in Russia 2018 and are relying on France to down Denmark in Moscow.
A lot of the Socceroos felt hard done by after their 1-1 draw to the Danes in Samara, but the message from camp is they’re taking confidence into their final Group C match.
The squad had the chance to sightsee in Kazan on Saturday and Juric said it was needed.
“It was good, it was quite simple, brekky and then lunch here at camp,” Juric said in Kazan on Sunday.
“We then got the afternoon free to ourselves, some boys wanted to go out and get their minds off football, see the town and wind down.
“We’ve come back fully focused today and the next few days for the big job at hand.”
The FC Luzern striker is enjoying his first World Cup and a round of 16 birth would add to his achievement of winning the Asian Cup in 2015.
Juric said it’s all about the result in the game against the Peruvians.
“Personally it would be fantastic to make the second round,” he said.
“The most important thing for us is to get the result and fingers crossed we go into the next round. We need the other result to go in our favour, so it’s the main point and talking factor.”
