Reds fans will have plenty to celebrate this Christmas
Liverpool are the latest club to release retro jerseys just in time for Christmas with kit manufacturer New Balance unveiling designs from the ’88-89, ’95-96 and ’96-97 seasons.
Announced on the club’s retail Twitter account, the three kits are modelled by defensive partners Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold, as well as off-season signing Xherdan Shaqiri and squad player Dominic Solanke.
The classic strip from the 1988-89 season is a predominantly white piece, with a red trim along the neck and continuing down the shoulders, with the major sponsor from that season, Candy, emblazoned across the front of the shirt.

For the 1996-97 domestic season, the Reds went white yet again, ushering in the Carlsberg sponsorship era with a bold turtle-neck design with neck and sleeve cuff trims.

The 1995-96 edition is a return to Liverpool’s iconic red shirt which sports a thick, white v-neck. Overall, it's similar to the club’s 2001 Champions League jersey which is also available for purchase, with the only differences being that the latter has a thinner neck and a yellow Carlsberg logo instead of white.

Of the four players pictured, only Alexander-Arnold was involved yesterday morning as he played a full 90 minutes for the Reds in their breathtaking 1-0 win over Napoli at Anfield which saw them through to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.
Jerseys from Liverpool’s retro collection can be purchased online at their official club shop.
