The Wollongong FC custodian has just returned from the Olyroos camp in Darwin and now all he can do is wait.

The former Sydney FC keeper, who also had brief spells with Newcastle Jets and Queensland Roar, told the Illawara Mercury: "I'm feeling really good about my chances.

"I'm in a good position. There will probably be two keepers going to Beijing and another on stand-by.

"Hopefully I have done enough over the past couple of weeks. I'm quietly confident."

Pasfield played the whole game as the Olyroos lost 4-3 to Chile in the first of a two-game series.

He said: "They scored three goals from dead-ball situations and some of them were absolutely freakish. I think I did well. I performed solidly."

Pasfield hopes the fact he was picked for the first game is a positive sign.

He said: "It was good on my behalf that he picked me and had the confidence in me to play the first game.

"Two of the boys who came up as keepers didn't play at all, but I got to start and play all of the first game, which is a good sign.

"I have been working my guts out for the past two weeks, correcting things that I have needed to.

"All I can do is wait for Friday. Hopefully it's good news."
