The 32-year-old Trezeguet is expected to join a new club, reportedly Hercules in Spain, after agreeing to cancel the final year of his deal with Juve.

In a statement, Juve president Andrea Agnelli praised Trezeguet's impact in his decade in Turin.

"I've been, like all Juventus supporters, very fond of David and his 171 goals in 10 years," he said. "A player with an average of 17 goals a season does not need any further comments.

"It's been a real love affair, David will always be in the heart of all us Juventus supporters."

However, that love affair began to come to an end last season as Trezeguet was squeezed out of the starting XI and his expensive wages became a burden to the club.

The signing of Fabio Quagliarella from Napoli yesterday effectively signalled the end of Trezeguet's Juve career.

He won four Serie A titles, not including the two that Juve were stripped of in the match-fixing scandal.

However, his penalty miss handed AC Milan the 2003 Champions League title.
