The visitors have scored the fewest goals in Serie A but took a surprise lead through Paolo Bianco on 56 minutes.

But their joy was shortlived as the advantage was to last a matter of seconds before Pavel Nedved pulled the Bianconeri level.

The Sardinian outfit are rock-bottom of the Serie A table but made the trip to Turin in an upbeat mood after clinching their third win of the campaign last weekend.

But coach Davide Ballardini knew that the 2-1 win over Napoli would pale into insignificance if they could get a result at third-placed Juventus.

Mohamed Sissoko made his Serie A debut but it was Cagliari who attracted all the attention and came close to pulling off a memorable victory.

The Bianconeri almost took the lead with barely two minutes on the clock as Cristian Molinaro's powerful shot from just outside the area brushed the top of the crossbar.

Cagliari were forced into an early substitution as Diego Luis Lopez suffered an injury and had to be replaced by Michele Canini.

But that didn't seem to hamper the visitors much as in the 21st minute they came close to taking the lead as a mistake in the Juve defence let in Pasquale Foggia who saw his shot fly narrowly wide of the right upright.

The visitors had another good opportunity four minutes later as Alessandro Agostini fired a tantalising cross into the area but Juve defender Christian Molinaro was on hand to spare his side's blushes.

Juve almost went in at the break ahead as they broke through the Cagliari defence but Cagliari keeper Marco Storari was quick to react and reached the loose ball first.

Cagliari came out after the second-half in confident mood and should have been ahead four minutes after the restart as Joaquin Larrivey sent a header wide from point-blank range.

Their disappointment didn't last long however as six minutes later Bianco headed a corner into the bottom right corner from a few yards out.

But, having conceded 37 goals this campaign, Cagliari have the worst defence in Serie A and so it was no surprise that Juve equalised almost immediately.

Just seconds later Nedved fired past the outstretched hands of Storari and into the top right corner.

Juve came agonisingly close to taking all three points as Nedved sent in an excellent cross five minutes from time but it cleared everyone in the area and the hosts were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.
