It’s been a rollercoaster ride of speculation and conjecture in regards to the rumours which suggests Cahill will be wearing a City jersey in the A-League next season.

And while FFA Chief Executive David Gallop has made it clear he supports and encourages Cahill to come Down Under, the Socceroo veteran has remained tight lipped over the past two months.

Van’t Schip and the team are heading to Perth for the FFA Cup Round of 32 clash against Floreat Athena, the first competitive match for City this season and while the Dutchman’s focus is on the game, he took time to praise Cahill, but couldn’t shed any further light on the clutter.

“I can’t comment on that, we all know there’s been speculation and it is still speculation. We don’t give comments,” Van’t Schip said.

“We all know Tim’s qualities on and off the pitch, a great footballer, so I can’t say more about that.

“Who wouldn’t like to have Tim in their team? He’s proven in his time again, looking at what he’s achieving at the moment still in the Socceroos speaks for itself.”
