City boast an impressive spread of talent across the park with Neil Kilkenny, Tim Cahill and Luke Brattan as well as the South American flair with captain Bruno Fornaroli, Nicolas Colazo and Fernando Brandan.

Assistant Joe Montemurro has set his sights on doing the A-League and W-League double as head coach of the club’s women’s team.

He is undertaking an assisting role simultaneously with the men’s squad.

Similarly, Michael Valkanis, who was involved in Adelaide United’s triumph last season, is now home assisting van’t Schip.

And with the club sit second with maximum points on goal difference, the Dutchman said it was imperative his team continued to play attractive football.

“If you look at the team, there’s a lot of turnovers in personnel,” Van’t Schip said. “We looked at what we wanted to improve and I think the big thing that also kept players in that are prepared to work hard in the way we wanted them to play.

“If you want to play in a certain way, it’s also a way of living, buying into it and also performing in the way we ask and we’ve got boys who are doing that.

“On top of that the way we play gives a lot of freedom, but in that freedom it looks maybe sometimes as a big way of freedom, but it’s a discipline, how they position themselves on the park.

“When we lose the ball it’s how we organise, we’re talking about that and working on that every day. if everything goes in the way that you’d like to, then it could be very enjoyable to watch.”

City now look to their first official home game of season 2016/17 at AAMI Park against Perth Glory when they aim to make it three wins in a row.

But City may have to do it without Colazo with van’t Schip confirming the Argentine was “in doubt” for the match after suffering an injury to the ear.

Colazo started the first two games of the season but failed to train Wednesday or Thursday.

Van’t Schip said second-choice goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis could start again after deputising in the derby for the suspended Thomas Sorensen who is now eligible.

And despite a bumper start to the season, the City boss said it was too early to ascertain whether a sense of momentum had been established.

“That’s something we’re still working on (consistency) because we can’t say it now, we still have to play games and we’ve played only two games in the league,” he said.

“That’s something we can talk about a bit further up in the competition, now it’s too early to say whether we’re consistent, no, we have to back-up the results and good play, especially good play because that’s what I’m looking at.

“You can play good but it doesn’t always have to have a reflection on the performance on the result, but it’s a big thing that’s going to help you get that good performance and result, so that’s what we’re looking at.”

Van’t Schip also highlighted the dangers in Glory’s direct play on the back its strike force which includes Andy Keogh, Adam Taggart and midfielders Nebojsa Marinkovic, Chris Harold and Diego Castro.

“They (Perth) have same kind of structure they play, but of course the strength in their team as well, Castro seems again in good form, Keogh came in January and now back after half year,” he said.

“I think looking at the structure, it hasn’t changed that much, same way of playing, physically strong, a lot speed going forward and on the counter and within that they have some interesting players, it’s a good team.”
