Bayern Munich suffered an early season stumble as two goals in as many minutes condemned them to a 2-0 defeat at newly-promoted Kaiserslautern.
Bayern thoroughly outplayed the hosts at the Betzenberg, but it was Ivo Ilicevic and Srdjan Lakic who grabbed the all important goals in the 36th and 37th minutes to give Kaiserslautern their second win in as many games as they made a flying start to life in the Bundesliga.
Bayern will come away wondering how they failed to score, let alone win, a match they dominated.
Bastian Schweinsteiger sent an early sighter just wide of the post before a well-worked move sent Thomas Muller clean through on goal, only for the Germany international to poke his shot wide.
Ivica Olic then sent a header narrowly wide before Kaiserslautern scored with their first opportunity.
A neat dummy left Ilicevic in space and his curling shot evaded the reach of Jorg Butt to find the top right-hand corner.
And Bayern were still reeling from that when they were hit again, Ilicevic turning provider as he found Lakic who fired the ball low and hard into the bottom left-hand corner.
Bayern threw everything they had at Kaiserslautern after the break but could not find a breakthrough.
Miroslav Klose's early shot lacked power while Franck Ribery's curling free-kick was too high as it cleared the crossbar.
Home goalkeeper Tobias Sippel made a good save to push Toni Kroos' shot onto the post and away in the 67th minute.
Kroos then had another late chance but his shot did not have the power to beat Sippel.
