Former Algeria international Karim Matmour has left Adelaide United effective immediately.
Rumours began to circle last week that Matmour, more specificially his wife, was not able to settle into life in the South Australian capital.
Matmour only signed for Adelaide in August, making just eight A-League appearances for the club.
Despite being an attack-minded player, he failed to register a single goal for United in a total of 11 appearances.
United head coach, Marco Kurz, said: “We are disappointed to be losing Karim at this time, but thank him for his efforts this season.
“I understand the reasoning behind him leaving and respect his honesty.”
Fox Sports pundit and former United coah Josh Kosmina hinted on Sunday that Bruce Djite could be in line for a return to Hindmarsh.
