Kashima Antlers midfielder Mitsuo Ogasawara has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury on Saturday during his side's 1-1 draw with Kashiwa Reysol.
Ogasawara collided with Kashiwa midfielder Alex in the 16th minute when the two players went for the ball. The former Japan international was sent crashing to the ground by the Brazilian and had to be taken from the pitch on a stretcher.
The 29-year-old Ogasawara has been diagnosed with damaged ligaments in his left knee and will undergo surgery soon.
Ogasawara has played 24 matches and scored five goals in the J.League for Kashima this season.
