Katebian garnered a reputation as prolific in the NPL Victoria competition with 33 goals, however never got a chance to step up to the A-League as he found himself behind the pecking order of experienced forwards at Melbourne Victory.

John Aloisi hailed the signing, who will be available for selection for next week's FFA Cup clash against Perth Glory.

"I know Joey (Katebian) from my time at (Melbourne) Victory and he's a striker who definitely knows where the goal is," Aloisi said.

"Over the coming season I believe he will show what he's capable of doing and contribute to our team being successful."

Katebian said that a huge factor in his signing came from the style of play that Roar played under Aloisi last season.

“I’m genuinely excited to be here and the focus is now to continue to develop as a footballer and getting game-time," Katebian said.

“I’ve signed for the one year so I’m keen to show the club what I can do and hopefully extend that in the future.”
