Ayegbeni Yakubu scored all of Blackburn's goals in their 4-2 win over Swansea on Saturday which lifted Rovers off the foot of the Barclays Premier League.

It was the first of three December home matches for Blackburn which under-fire Kean is adamant his team can win.

He takes his side to fellow strugglers Sunderland next week before Blackburn have consecutive home games against West Brom and Bolton prior to Christmas.

Kean charged up his players following their midweek Carling Cup quarter-final defeat at Cardiff, and explained: "We said we needed to turn it round with three of the next four games at home.

"Let's turn these games into cup finals because we've taken away the opportunity of playing in a cup final."

Swansea have a four-point cushion over third-bottom Blackburn but manager Brendan Rodgers admits his team need to sharpen up on their travels.

He said: "At home we're very strong and away from home we've been getting better, but it has cost us. It's something we need to assess and move on."

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew was fuming after his team's 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea.

Referee Mike Dean only booked David Luiz for an apparent professional foul on Demba Ba in the fourth minute.

That caused Pardew to seethe at the final whistle, but he has revealed Dean later admitted he should have dismissed the Chelsea defender.

Speaking on Sky Sports' Goals on Sunday show yesterday, Pardew said: "I have got no problem with the referee yesterday, he made a mistake. Actually, he has since after the game seen it again and said to me, 'I made a mistake, he should have been sent off'.

"At half-time yesterday, his opinion was different, but his opinion would have been altered if his assistant referee had done his job, in my opinion."

Chelsea won with goals from Didier Drogba, substitute Salomon Kalou and Daniel Sturridge, leading manager Andre Villas-Boas to say: "We did fantastically well and the players deserve some applause for what they did in the game."

QPR manager Neil Warnock believes his team produced their best performance of the season on Saturday, even if it was only enough for a 1-1 draw with West Brom at Loftus Road.

Heidar Helguson headed QPR ahead and they had many chances before Shane Long levelled for the visitors.

Shaun Wright-Phillips was unfortunate to have a goal disallowed for offside when he appeared to be just the right side of the last defender.

Warnock said: "I thought we were fantastic. I think it was as good as we have played.

"I can see us making even more progress. It is a good time at the minute."

Arsenal are also moving in the right direction, with Arsene Wenger optimistic his team can finish in the top four.

Saturday's 4-0 win at Wigan was clinical and Wenger is eyeing a place in next season's Champions League.

He said: "I'm confident we can achieve it. It looks at the moment that all the teams at the top are winning comfortably so it will be down to the teams who are the most consistent."

Wigan found the wrong sort of consistency earlier in the campaign when they lost eight consecutive league games.

They halted that run by taking four points from games against Blackburn and Sunderland, but were 2-0 down inside half an hour against Arsenal after Mikel Arteta and Thomas Vermaelen netted. Gervinho and Robin van Persie completed the rout.

Manager Roberto Martinez said: "There are ways to lose and I thought we lost a little bit too easily."
