Goals either side of half-time from Mauro Formica and Junior Hoilett were enough to overcome Paul Lambert's disappointing team and the Scot feels the team has the resolve to pull themselves clear of the relegation zone.

When asked how he rated his team's chances of survival he said: "Excellent. I think we've got a very good chance because Wigan have got to come here before the end of the season.

"Also we've already this season been to Anfield and Old Trafford and managed to get something so why can't we go to White Hart Lane and Stamford Bridge and go and get something?

"I said a number of weeks ago when we beat Wolves and Sunderland that it was six points and you're almost there. All we can do is try and pick up points from every game and like today other teams stumble and you can only take advantage of that."

The game was marred by chants against Kean and the Indian owners of the Lancashire club Venky's but Kean said he paid no attention to it.

"We had one focus today and it was pretty simple. The focus was to win and get three points for Blackburn Rovers. It was very focused from the players and the staff and we've managed to get the job done," he said.

After five defeats in a row prior to this game, Rovers needed to get a result and the Scot said the result with give his side added impetus going into the final three games of the season.

"It's given us something because the target was to try and gets something from every one of the remaining games," he said.

"We tried to go with two out and out strikers and David Dunn in the position he has played most of his career - just behind the striker - we felt we could really ask questions of the Norwich back four.

"We probably had about six or seven man of the matches because Gael Givet and Scott Dann played really well and looked a good partnership.

"The two full-backs stopped the crosses being put in the box and all the way through the midfield we nullified their play."

Meanwhile, Norwich boss Paul Lambert was happy with his team's performance that left the Canaries in 12th on the table.

"We huffed and puffed and you've got to take your medicine and go again," he told Sky Sports News.

"I hope we will keep playing this season whether there is some meaning or not.

"The first goal was a poor goal from our point of view and for the second you can't let someone shoot from 25 yards and do nothing. You've got to get in a tackle or a block or something.

"The one positive thing to come out of the game was that James Vaughan came back and did really well, because he's had some hard times with injuries."
