After playing against Spurs in a friendly for Los Angeles Galaxy, Keane believes Villas-Boas will prove his doubters wrong after a less than impressive start in England with Chelsea.

"Andre is a top, top manager," Keane said.

"For whatever reason it didn't go too well for him at Chelsea but I have spoken to a lot of players in the game who have worked with him and the training sessions he does the attention to detail is second to none and I'm sure he will do a great job."

Galaxy came back from a goal down in Los Angeles to snatch a 1-1 draw with Tottenham in the first of three matches in the USA for the London club.

While Keane can understand how Tottenham got something out of the friendly, the Irish striker believes it was not ideal timing for the Galaxy.

"It is a game that is obviously good for Tottenham for their pre-season to keep themselves fit," Keane said.

"For us it is probably a game that has come at the wrong time really, because we played three games last week, it was a tough week.

"This week we have got another tough game on Saturday (against Dallas) so it's one of those things."
