THE MAN behind Australia's World Cup goalkeepers says Pim Verbeek has a healthy headache over who will make it to South Africa.
Mark Schwarzer's place on the plane to South Africa is guaranteed but there is plenty of competition for back up spots.
Socceroos goalkeeping coach Tony Franken has been busy checking out a number of candidates with several 'possibles' enjoying a strong end to their seasons in Europe.
"I was over to watch Reading play and to see Adam Federici, and Brad Jones was brought in for Middlesbrough," Franken told The West Australian.
"It was a massive game for him because the crowd was on his back but he was man of the match. I saw him again the week after and he was man of the match again.
"Since he's been put back in he really hasn't put a foot wrong. He's done very, very well. It was a timely change for us in terms of the goalkeeping department."
Michael Petkovic has also been checked out in Turkey with Franken impressed with his displays.
"Now that we've got all keepers playing in different leagues, it's a healthy situation," Franken added.
The other name in the frame is Eugene Galekovic at Adelaide United
