A press conference with Victory coach Kevin Muscat, chairman Anthony di Pietro and A-League boss Greg O'Rourke at 10am on Monday will present the Blue Samurai veteran of three World Cups to fans and media.

Honda teased fans last week that he would be making his final decision in the next few days but it's believed the final decision was actually made on Friday.

Club officials are understood to have decided to sit on the news until Monday morning for maximum media impact.

Honda, 32, can play anywhere across the front line and has appeared at every World Cup since 2010, scoring at every one. In 98 appearance for his national team, he has scored 37 times.

He started his senior career at Nagoya Grampus in the J.League before moving to Dutch side VVV Venlo followed by a move to CSKA Moscow.

He joined AC Milan in 2014 and spent three seasons there before transferring to Mexican side Pachuca last season where he scored better than one goal every three games.

Some of the details of the deal will be revealed at his unveiling tomorrow but Honda is the biggest name to sign for Victory since the club was founded in 2005, with Socceroo Harry Kewell the nearest rival.

It is believed Fox Sports are contributing to the wage bill as part of their special $3m marquee fund. The announcement is being held at Fox Sports' Melbourne studios and will be broadcast live on Fox Sports News.
