Both coaches agreed it was a a snatch and grab by the Hunter outfit who equalised then took the lead in the dying minutes of the match

But Lowe went one step further, making a “Ray Charles” crack at the ref and VAR for missing what he alleged was an offside equaliser by the Jets.

“1st goal offside and foul on fullback,” he tweeted.

“Boys on VAR must have clocked off and gone to bar. I think Ray Charles maybe would have picked those TWO things up. Looking forward to clarification from gents at FFA."

Replays revealed the goal was onside but that didn't make it any more palatable, and even Jets boss Ernie Merrick was sympathetic.

“The police have just come into the dressing room and charged us with stealing three points," Merrick said post-match.

“It really was theft. We didn’t deserve three. In the 88th minute when we pulled a goal back it was one-all and I thought, well we’ve done all right.

“I didn’t expect in the 92nd minute to get the corner kick and score from the corner kick.”

Joseph Knowles put the home side in front on 20 minutes before a two quick fire goals punctured the Glory defence. Substitute Johnny Koutroumbis equalised and a Jeremy Walker own goal sealed the win.

Lowe was equally perplexed by the outcome: “I don’t know how you can do it but they’ve had one shot on target and won the game. I don’t know how you can do that.

“I thought we were excellent. I thought we’ve controlled the game …”

The match also left the depleted Glory side with more injury headaches as defender Alex Grant (hamstring) and Xavi Torres (groin) limped off the pitch.

The result saw Glory drop to eighth on the table and 15 points off league leaders Sydney FC after 10 games. But despite the setbacks, Lowe insisted Glory were still in a “good spot”.

“There’s nothing between teams in this league," he said.

"You can get on a roll quiet easily. You’ve seen by our performances we’re more than capable.

“What worries me is that we’ve maybe picked up a couple of injuries again today which you know we haven’t got a deep squad, a big squad.”

But, he added: “There’s still a hell of a lot of games and a hell of a lot of points to play for…we’ve got a good group of players and we’re playing okay.

"Somewhere down the line a little bit of luck balances out for you. That’s what I’m hoping.”
