It’s funny, controversial but most of all a unique insight into the minds of two of the most recognisable Australians sportsmen.
Schwarzer revealed that at one point he considered quitting the Socceroos because the set-up lacked the professionalism it has these days.
“At times you got to a point where the longer it went on, the longer it was not as a professional as you were used to playing in Europe, and the more frustrated you got and the more you thought, ‘Well hang on, what’s the point?’” he told Australian FourFourTwo magazine.
Kewell, in his last interview in Australia before returning to England in June, offered his take on being one of the most iconic sportsmen this country has ever produced.
He even said younger players in the Socceroos pester him for his autograph.
“Actually the question was asked in this camp, ‘Am I that bad? Am I that bad to come across?’” he explained of the Kewell aura.
“And some of the boys said ‘yeah because you’re just very focused, you don’t talk much, you just do your thing.’
Schwarzer and Kewell also joked about fashion howlers and rock star arrivals at airports before Kewell took over the interview to ask a few pointed questions of his Socceroo mate.
It’s a fascinating feature. Want to read the full, 16-page extravaganza?
