Beauchamp sustained an ankle injury during Melbourne Heart's 3-2 defeat away to Adelaide United last weekend and will miss Australia's games against Switzerland and Poland on September 3 and 7.

Despite playing out the remainder of the match, scans have since confirmed the centre back will be out of action for a fortnight.

"It’s obviously disappointing to lose a player of Michael’s quality, particular given the importance of continuity during this early stage of the season," said Heart football operations general manager John Didulica.

"However, his absence will create an opportunity for another player to move into the void and stake his claim for a starting berth."

Beauchamp was amongst those named in new Socceroos coach Holger Osieck's first international squad on Tuesday.

Osieck may be disappointed with the timing of the withdrawal, given that Melbourne Heart had four days between the injury being sustained and Osieck's squad announcement in which to notify the FFA that Beauchamp was a doubt.

Osieck takes charge of the Socceroos for the first time against Switzerland in St Gallen on September 3.

Harry Kewell's Socceroo place is also in doubt after he was dropped from the Galatasaray side with yet another flare up of his groin injury, although some reports claim it a pelvis problem this time.

The Turkish press are saying he is also out for at least a fortnight, effectively ruling him out of the friendlies too, although neither player has yet been replaced by Osieck.
