Harry Kewell says he’s shooting for the stars with his venture into coaching but hasn’t ruled out trying his luck in the A-League.
Kewell, 38, is back in Australia this week, claiming the Alex Tobin Medal at the Professional Footballers’ Australia’s gala night in Melbourne on Tuesday.
The former Liverpool and Leeds United star currently works as Watford’s Under-21 coach and has big ambitions about a career in management.
“I always dreamed big when I was a player,” Kewell told Fox Sports.
“I always wanted to hit the heights, play at the highest level, play for the biggest teams.
“There’s no difference, I want to go to the highest level in management.
“I may be a great coach, I may be a great assistant coach, I may be a great under-23’s coach or it may be I’m great at academy level, I don’t know yet. I’m going to try go for the highest level.”
Sydney-born Kewell didn’t dismiss a stint in Australia as part of his development as a coach either.
However, he was cautious when asked, admitting he was happy in England.
“You don’t know until you get the opportunity,” he said.
“I’m happy where I am at the moment. If the opportunity came I’d have to obviously look at it.”
