Kewell is preparing to go into camp with the Socceroos but is unlikely to be handed a start against New Zealand at the MCG next week as Pim Verbeek looks to avoid any further injury problems.

But he is confident he will be raring to go in South Africa and that rivals should write off the Socceroos at their peril.

"A lot of people are speculating that obviously we are the weakest team there (Group D)," Kewell told the Herald Sun.

"Because I have heard reports from Ghana, from Serbia, and obviously from Germany ... they are all sitting up there on their high horses, but you know, again, we're confident to go there and play good football."

Kewell and his colleagues meet up tomorrow for their first training session at AAMI Park in Melbourne.
