EUROROOS WRAP: Socceroo Harry Kewell has returned to form at club level scoring a double for Galatasaray in their 5-1 away victory at OFK Beograd in the Europa League.
The result, which comes on the back of the first-leg 2-2 draw where Cimbom threw away a two-goal advantage, eases Galatasaray into the Europa League playoff round.
Mustafa Sarp headed the Turkish side ahead on 12 minutes, before Kewell - playing up front - doubled their lead on 22 minutes with a cool finish after Sarp played him through on goal.
OFK kept the tie alive before the break when Danilo Nikolic dragged one back with Australian defender Lucas Neill playing him onside.
But Kewell settled the match just over ten minutes after the break when he was brought down in the box by Nikolic who saw red for the challenge.
Kewell stepped up for the resultant penalty, squeezing the spotkick just past the outstretched arms of OFK keeper Bojan Saranov.
The Socceroo who had a forgettable World Cup was replaced on 72 minutes, while Neill put in a full shift as Arda Turan and Mehmet Batdal rounded out the victory with late goals.
Galatasaray boss Frank Rijkaard said after the game: "Here we quickly went 2-0 up, but OFK didn't back down and pulled a goal back. The penalty was the turning point."
Elsewhere in the Europa League, veteran Aussie stopper Ante Covic played a full game in goals as Swedish club IF Elfsborg defeated Macedonian outfit Teteks 2-1 to qualify for the next round.
Socceroo Brett Holman returned to action with AZ Alkmaar as a 65th minute substitute, while James Holland was on the bench, as the Dutch side lost 1-0 in Sweden to IFK Goteborg, but still progressed 2-1 on aggregate.
Teenage Aussie prospect Tommy Oar was left on the bench as FC Utrecht progressed following a 3-1 triumph at FC Luzern. Fellow Australians Adam Sarota and Michael Zullo were not in the matchday squad.
