SOCCEROO Harry Kewell's sparkling pre-World Cup form has been thwarted with news he is set for an extended stint on the sidelines due to a serious groin injury.
It is believed the 31-year-old Australian, who has been in wonderful form with 14 goals for Galatasaray this campaign, has re-injured a pre-existing adductor problem and now faces two months on the sidelines.
Kewell suffered the blow in Galatasaray's recent 3-0 Kupasi win over Orduspor, which saw the Socceroo replaced at half-time.
Galatasaray reported on their official website that Kewell had this week been receiving treatment for the injury which is believed to be a second-degree tear of the adductor tendon.
The news is a major blow for Kewell who seemed to be in peak condition at Galatasaray this season resulting in a return to some of his career best form.
