Kewell, who started the game but was replaced at half-time, appears set to leave the Istanbul club following comments made by his wife Sheree Murphy on Twitter earlier in the week which revealed Galatasaray had not offered the 32-year-old a new contract.

“Off to Istanbul to watch Harry's last game happy to be bringing him home though!!,” Murphy wrote.

“No contract has been offered. So yes it could be Harry's last game for Gala.”

Galatasaray, who had a dreadful 2010/2011 campaign, named former Turkey boss Fatih Terim as their new manager on Friday.

Terim, known as 'the Emperor', previously guided Cimbom to four consecutive Turkish league championships along with victory in the 2000 UEFA Cup.

The appointment of Terim represents a new era for the club after the failed managerial stints of Frank Rijkaard and Gheorghe Hagi.

The Turkish giants also revealed they had signed Bolton forward Johan Elmander earlier in the week, who could be lined up as a replacement for Kewell.

Kewell told Turkish TV last month he would make up his mind on his future at the end of the season, with rumours of a switch to the United States' MLS.

Elsewhere on Friday, there was promotion disappointment for Aussie duo Alex Cisak and Shane Cansdell-Sherriff after they were both bundled out in the League Two play-offs.

Cisak played a full game in goals as Accrington Stanley lost 1-0 at home to Stevenage to lose 3-0 on aggregate.

Cansdell-Sherriff put in a full shift in defence as Shrewsbury drew 0-0 with Torquay at home to lose 2-0 on aggregate.

In Denmark's Superliga, Socceroos striker Brent McGrath did not play as Brondby defeated Lyngby 2-1.

In Ireland's Premier Division, goalkeeper Chris O'Connor put in a full shift as Bohemians lost 1-0 to St Patrick's Athletic.

In China's Super League, Alex Wilkinson played a full game while Bruce Djite was a 62nd-minute substitute as Jiangsu Sainty lost 2-1 at Tianjin Teda.
