Kilkenny was rushed into the side after just one training session and it could hardly have gone better for the former Melbourne City midfielder and his new club.

"Brilliant win, that's what we needed and we look forward to the next game and hopefully we can get another win," the 32-year-old told Fox Sports post match.

Glory snapped a five game losing streak in an incident-packed first half that saw two penalties, a send off and a disallowed goal within the opening 20 minutes.

It was always an uphill battle for the visitors who were forced to play a man down from the 6th minute after Keanu Baccus was sent off for bringing down Joel Chianese inside the box.

Diego Castro converted the resulting penalty before Wanderers equalised, through Oriol Riera, with their own spot kick 10 minutes later.

That's as good as it got for Josep Gombau's men as two quickfire goals from man of the match Castro and Andy Keogh towards the end of the half sealed the result.

"I think the lads have got confidence," Kilkenny added. "We've got some more players back on the pitch - a couple of new signings.

"It's been fantastic so far. I've only been here two days but the manager's brillant and gives us all confidence.

"Like I said it's a fantastic win. We maybe should have had more (goals) but we'll look forward to the next game."

After a tough period at City, where he made just three appearances for a total of 70 minutes this season, Kilkenny put in a full shift for his new club.

He added: It's hard you know, obviously you have to get to know the lads quickly. But there's some good players here, they helped me out a lot and hopefully we can carry on with it."
