Neil Kilkenny is understood to be on his way to Perth Glory after the mutual termination of his contract with Melbourne City.
Kilkenny, 32, joined City from Preston North End in July 2016 and made 28 appearances for the A-League outfit.
But the club announced on Tuesday they were parting ways.
The combative midfielder has struggled for game time under new coach Warren Joyce making just three appeararances for a total of 70 minutes this season.
He becomes the second experienced player to join strugglers Glory who have slumped to 9th on the ladder following a debilitating run of injuries.
Defender, Dino Djulbic, earlier signed on for his third stint with Perth - his contract running through to the end of the A-League season.
