“Yeah, I know it's [the A-League] taken off over there and I watch it over here every Tuesday night on SKY Sport which is Fox Sports over there,” the central midfielder said today.

“I stay up to about 12.30am watching all the lads I know from the Olyroos.”

Quizzed on whether a move to Australia was on his radar, the single-cap Socceroo wasn't ruling it out or in: “Yeah, it's come into my mind but at the moment I'm just concentrating on my career over here and I'll make that decision when the time is right.”

The 21-year-old former Arsenal trainee – currently in his second loan spell at Oldham from premiership club Birmingham City – says he's happy with his form.

"I think the manager is quite happy with me," he said. "We're not doing very well in the league, but we haven't been putting our chances away.

"But my form I think is okay at the moment. My loan finishes in January so we'll have to see what happens.

"They [Birmingham] may want me to stay at Oldham or go to another club.”

In the meantime, Brisbane-raised Kilkenny is looking to impress when he returns to Australia shortly to prepare for the Olyroos' crunch Olympics qualifier against Iraq on November 17 in Gosford.

“You can see the senior team won the Asian Cup," he said about Iraq. "So they must be doing something right there.

"They've obviously got a few problems in their country but that might have brought the team together more. They all want to fight for each other and work hard for each other.

“We went to their place and drew 0-0 so hopefully we can get a win under our belts back home in Australia and go through.”

As for his Socceroo ambitions, Kilkenny is hopeful but realistic.

He added: “Obviously at Birmingham I wasn't playing regularly so it's hard to get picked but if I do well here, the manager might put me in his squad.”
